The Indonesian Community Council of New South Wales Inc.

The Indonesian Independence Day commemorates Indonesia’s proclamation of independence in 1945, marking the end of over three centuries of Dutch colonial rule and three years of Japanese occupation. This year, we proudly celebrate the 81st anniversary of this historic milestone.
This celebration seeks to honour the legacy of Indonesia’s independence, pay tribute to the sacrifices of our national heroes, and highlights the cultural significance of this 81st year. The event also aims to promote Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through traditional music, dance, and costume.

The festival includes the following activities:
•Traditional performances from Indonesian dancers
•Traditional games for young kids, teenagers, and adults, such as sack race, cracker’s eating competition, tug of war, etc
•Performances by Indonesian singers and musicians.
•Sing along to Indonesian songs.
•Fashion show of clothing inspired by Indonesian traditional motifs.
•Food stalls of various authentic Indonesian food.
•Information stalls for community services.
